Qualifications Necessary
- Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 to 2 years in automotive engineering technology/technician, autobody/collision and repair technology/technician, or automobile/automotive mechanics technology/technician
- Experience: 5 years or more in a relevant field
- Languages: English
Responsibilities of the Job
- Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems
- Confirm findings with the supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace a unit
- Discuss work with the supervisor and inspect mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
- Test automotive systems and components, including engines, brakes, and hydraulic systems
- Maintain detailed records of repairs and maintenance performed
- Perform scheduled maintenance service and advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements
- Coach and instruct apprentices and provide customer service
Experience and Specialization
- Proficient in engine repair, diesel engines, diagnostics, alignment, steering, suspension, brake systems, and automatic transmission
- Familiar with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
Work Environment
- Work Conditions: Fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail and manual dexterity; ability to stand for extended periods and handle weights up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
