Job Details:

  • Location: Mississauga, ON
  • Salary: $29.00 hourly / 30 hours per week
  • Type of Employment: Permanent, Full-time

Qualifications:

  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years

Responsibilities:

  • Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions using computer equipment, GPS, or other navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
  • Address customers’ complaints or concerns.
  • Load and unload goods.
  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
  • Oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
  • Pay and receive payments for goods.
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs.
  • Conduct pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of the vehicle.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed.

Credentials:

  • Certificates and Licences:
    • DZ class license
    • Driver’s License (Class 3 or D)

Additional Information:

  • Transportation/Travel Experience: Local, provincial/territorial, regional, and short-haul.
  • Work Conditions: Attention to detail, handling heavy loads, large workload, physically demanding, and repetitive tasks.
