Job Details

  • Location: Sault Ste. Marie, ON
  • Salary: $24.50 to $27.00 hourly (To be negotiated)
  • Type of Employment: Permanent employment; Full-time
  • Hours of Work: 40 hours per week; Day shifts

Qualifications Necessary

  • Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 to 2 years in accounting technology/technician and bookkeeping
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years in a similar role
  • Languages: English

Responsibilities of the Job

  • Prepare statements of earnings for employees, indicating gross and net salaries and deductions (e.g., taxes, union dues, garnishments, insurance, and pension plans)
  • Perform clerical duties, including maintaining filing systems
  • Handle human resources-related duties such as personnel selection
  • Prepare and balance period-end reports and reconcile issued payrolls to bank statements
  • Prepare monthly statements and complete documentation for the administration of benefits
  • Inform employees about payroll matters and benefit plans
  • Compile statistics and reports, maintaining payroll records
  • Maintain records of employee attendance, leave, and overtime to calculate pay and benefit entitlements using manual or computerized systems
  • Prepare T4 statements and other necessary statements
  • Perform data entry and prepare payroll

Experience and Specialization

  • Proficient in computer and technology knowledge, including Sage Accounting Software, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Windows
