Job Details

  • Location: Georgetown, ON
  • Salary: $34.07 hourly / 40 hours per week
  • Type of Employment: Permanent, Full-time

Qualifications Needed

  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years in a relevant role

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and locate equipment faults, adjusting, replacing, or repairing telecommunications equipment
  • Inspect the operation of telecommunications equipment
  • Analyze test results and make adjustments or repairs to switching systems, networks, and associated equipment/software
  • Complete and maintain test and service reports
  • Install electromechanical, analog, and digital trunking systems, circuits, and equipment in telecommunications central offices and switching centers
  • Climb and work at heights on poles, ladders, or other support structures
  • Maintain and repair aerial and underground transmission systems
  • Repair or replace faulty cables, power supplies, and amplifiers

Experience and Specialization

  • Technical Knowledge: Telecommunications systems, fibre optics, aerial and underground cable lines, splitters, coaxial lines
  • Area of Specialization: Telecommunication service testing and telecommunications equipment

Additional Information

  • Security and Safety: Basic security clearance, criminal record check, drug test, driver’s validity license check
  • Transportation/Travel: Valid driver’s license required; willingness to travel
  • Work Environment: Fast-paced, outdoor settings, working at heights, confined spaces, and underground

Working Conditions

  • Physical Capabilities: Ability to handle heavy loads (more than 45 kg / 100 lbs), manual dexterity, attention to detail, and ability to distinguish between colors
