Overview:

Responsibilities:
- Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables.
- Repair machine tools and parts as necessary.
- Set up and adjust production machinery and tools.
- Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerances.
- Maintain, repair, and calibrate precision measuring instruments.
- Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances.
- Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports.
- Verify dimensions of machined parts using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers).
- Set up and operate conventional and computer-controlled machine tools.
- Ensure products conform to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
Credentials:
- Machinist Trade Certification
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
Experience and Specialization:
- Measuring Tools: Micrometers, calipers, gauges, and verniers.
- Equipment and Machinery Experience: Automatic lathes, boring machines, cylindrical grinders, milling machines, tool grinders, and CNC machines.
Additional Information:
- Security and Safety: Criminal record check and basic security clearance required.
- Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation is necessary; a valid driver’s license is required.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
- Fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, physically demanding tasks, and the ability to stand for extended periods. Attention to detail is crucial, and overtime may be required. Weight handling up to 9 kg (20 lbs).
