We are currently seeking a reliable and skilled Local Truck Driver to join our team in Sudbury. If you have a passion for driving and delivering excellent customer service, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
As a Local Truck Driver, your primary duties will include:
- Planning or adjusting routes based on changing conditions using GPS or other navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
- Addressing customer complaints or concerns professionally.
- Coaching colleagues on new methods or work techniques.
- Loading and unloading goods efficiently.
- Operating and driving straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
- Overseeing the condition of the vehicle and inspecting tires, lights, brakes, and other equipment.
- Performing emergency roadside repairs as needed.
- Conducting pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and overseeing all aspects of the vehicle.
- Performing preventive maintenance on the vehicle.
- Receiving and relaying information to central dispatch.
- Recording cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
- Transporting and handling dangerous goods as required.
Qualifications
Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required.
Experience: Previous experience is an asset but not mandatory.
Credentials
- DZ class license required.
Skills Required
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle heavy loads.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability and the ability to work under pressure.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing demands and workloads.
- Proficiency in using GPS and other navigation equipment.
Additional Information
- A criminal record check and driving record check (abstract) are required.
- Bondable and able to perform physically demanding tasks.
