Qualifications Required:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years
  • Credentials: Membership in a provincial or territorial law society
  • Specialization: Risk management, investigation

Job Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on legal rights and matters related to law
  • Perform administrative functions related to legal practice
  • Plead cases before courts, tribunals, and boards
  • Draft legal documents and prepare statements of legal opinion
  • Negotiate settlements of civil disputes
  • Represent corporate/employer interests in legal matters
  • Supervise professional, para-legal, support staff, and articling students (1–2 people)
  • Conduct law workshops and provide public education seminars
  • Research legal precedents and gather evidence
  • Write and edit for legal publications
  • Present evidence in court
