Qualifications Required:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree
- Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years
- Credentials: Membership in a provincial or territorial law society
- Specialization: Risk management, investigation
Job Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on legal rights and matters related to law
- Perform administrative functions related to legal practice
- Plead cases before courts, tribunals, and boards
- Draft legal documents and prepare statements of legal opinion
- Negotiate settlements of civil disputes
- Represent corporate/employer interests in legal matters
- Supervise professional, para-legal, support staff, and articling students (1–2 people)
- Conduct law workshops and provide public education seminars
- Research legal precedents and gather evidence
- Write and edit for legal publications
- Present evidence in court
