Qualifications Required:
- Education: Other trades certificate or diploma
- Experience: 3 to less than 5 years
- Credentials: Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trade Certification, Red Seal Certificate, Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Certificate, WHMIS Certificate, Working at Heights training
Job Responsibilities:
- Install and overhaul heating, refrigeration, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
- Interpret blueprints and instructions to plan operations
- Measure and lay out reference points for installation
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems and components
- Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components
- Measure, cut, and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment
- Perform maintenance, including recharging refrigerants and calibrating systems
- Interpret gas codes and handle refrigerants safely
- Provide customer service and prepare systems for operation
Working Conditions:
- Noisy, hot, cold/refrigerated, odorous, and outdoor environments
- Physically demanding tasks including handling heavy loads, standing, bending, crouching, and kneeling
- Manual dexterity and attention to detail required
- Own tools/equipment: steel-toed safety boots
