Qualifications Required:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Apply hoeing techniques between crop rows
  • Divide harvested produce into marketable and non-marketable lots
  • Grade fruits and vegetables by size, shape, colour, and volume
  • Hand harvest vegetables and orchard crops
  • Pack fruits and vegetables
  • Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops
  • Remove suckers and water sprouts manually
  • Shear and shape trees and plants with a knife
  • Sort fruits and vegetables
  • Train trees to produce higher quality fruit
  • Perform weeding and crop harvesting
  • Load, unload, and transfer crates, supplies, and farm produce

Working Conditions:

  • Fruit and vegetable combination farming
  • Outdoors, wet/damp, dusty, cold/refrigerated, all-weather conditions
  • Rural area with no public transportation (own transportation required)
  • Physically demanding, repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads (up to 23 kg / 50 lbs)
  • Standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling
  • Large workload requiring attention to detail
