Qualifications Necessary:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree
- Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year
Responsibilities of the Job:
- Conduct quality control on programs, procedures, and control strategies
- Determine product specifications
- Establish new quality control programs and strategies
- Evaluate chemical process technology and equipment
- Conduct economic and technical feasibility studies
- Conduct research into the development or improvement of chemical engineering processes, reactions, and materials
- Design and test chemical processing and associated plants and equipment
- Develop guidelines and specifications for handling dangerous chemicals, environmental protection, or standards for foods, materials, and consumer goods
- Oversee the construction, modification, operation, and maintenance of pilot plants, processing units, or processing plants
- Prepare contract documents and evaluate tenders
- Commission systems and components
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems
- Prepare design concepts, sketches, or models for approval
- Communicate technical problems, processes, and solutions
- Supervise a team of 1 to 2 people
Credentials Required:
- Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association
Experience and Specialization:
- Type of Materials: Technical reports, resource usage, and environmental studies, municipal and industrial waste management
- Area of Work Experience: Design, installation, maintenance, and inspection of equipment or facilities, project management, research and development, specification or technical writing
- Type of Industry Experience: Building services
- Specialization or Experience: Chemical engineering, process control, system integration, process design or development, biochemistry, environment or pollution control, industrial chemistry, operations management, renewable resources, organic chemistry, process improvement
