Job Details

  • Location: 102 Yorkville Avenue, Suite Unit 4, Toronto, ON M5R 1B9
  • Salary: $23.00 to $25.00 hourly (To be negotiated) / 35 to 40 hours per week
  • Type of Employment: Permanent, Full-time
  • Hours of Work: Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Early Morning, Morning

Qualifications Needed

  • Education: Other trades certificate or diploma
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years in a relevant role

Responsibilities

  • Estimate the amount and costs of supplies and food items
  • Estimate labor costs and maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory
  • Analyze operating costs and other data
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to the cooking staff
  • Supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks, and other kitchen workers
  • Create new recipes and instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food
  • Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies and arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
  • Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets, and specialty functions
  • Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities of several restaurants
  • Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
  • Recruit and hire staff and supervise activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, and cooks
  • Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food

Supervision

  • Supervise 5-15 people, including sous-chefs and cooks

Credentials

  • Certificates: Cook Trade Certification, Food Safety Certificate

Experience and Specialization

  • Cuisine Specialties: Japanese cuisine
