Qualifications Required:
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year
- Credentials: Safe Food Handling certificate
Job Responsibilities:
- Estimate supplies, food items, and labour costs
- Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory
- Analyze operating costs and related data
- Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff
- Supervise chefs, cooks, and kitchen workers
- Create new recipes and instruct cooks in preparation, garnishing, and presentation
- Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events
- Supervise and train kitchen staff
- Requisition food and kitchen supplies
- Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
- Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets, and specialty functions
- Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
- Prepare dishes for customers with allergies or intolerances
- Recruit and hire staff
- Lead and instruct individuals
- Supervise 3–4 people
