Job Details:

Qualifications Required:

  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year
  • Credentials: Safe Food Handling certificate

Job Responsibilities:

  • Estimate supplies, food items, and labour costs
  • Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory
  • Analyze operating costs and related data
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff
  • Supervise chefs, cooks, and kitchen workers
  • Create new recipes and instruct cooks in preparation, garnishing, and presentation
  • Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies
  • Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
  • Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets, and specialty functions
  • Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
  • Prepare dishes for customers with allergies or intolerances
  • Recruit and hire staff
  • Lead and instruct individuals
  • Supervise 3–4 people
