Qualifications Required:
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes using measuring tools.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, and lightweight steel.
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
- Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.
- Schedule and co-ordinate work on construction sites.
- Estimate costs and materials required for projects.
Working Conditions:
- Physically demanding work involving bending, crouching, kneeling, and a combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
- Use of various hand tools and equipment.
- Willingness to travel to various work sites; public transportation is available.
