Job Description:

  • Location: Burlington, ON
  • Salary: $29.50 hourly / 35 to 40 hours per week
  • Terms of Employment: Permanent employment, full time, day, evening, weekend, overtime, on call, early morning, morning

Requirements:

  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma
  • Experience: 5 years or more
  • Languages: English

Work Setting:

Responsibilities:

  • Operate woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers, and shapers, to cut, shape, and form parts and components
  • Prepare specifications of custom-made cabinets that maximize storage
  • Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files
  • Study plans, specifications, or drawings of articles to be made
  • Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete units and reinforce joints
  • Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain, or polish to finished products; prepare and apply laminated plastics
  • Apply varnish, veneer, stain, or polish to finished products
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Supervise other workers
  • Estimate costs and materials
  • Repair or restyle wooden furniture, fixtures, and related products

Credentials:

  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate

Experience and Specialization:

  • Area of Specialization: Cabinets, built-in units, doors and door frames, millwork, furniture and cabinet remodeling, kitchen cabinets and vanities

Additional Information:

  • Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver’s licence
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, manual dexterity, attention to detail, standing for extended periods
  • Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
  • Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots
