Qualifications Required:
- Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate
- Experience: Experience an asset
- Credentials: Automotive Service Technician (Steering, Suspension and Brakes) Trade Certification; Motor Vehicle Repairer (Service Station Mechanic) Trade Certification
Job Responsibilities:
- Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
- Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of automotive systems
- Repair or replace mechanical units or components
- Perform scheduled maintenance service
- Test and adjust units to specifications
- Complete reports to record problems and work performed
- Coach and instruct apprentices
- Provide customer service
Working Conditions:
- Area of specialization: Engine repair, 4-wheel drive, electrical/electronic systems, diesel engines, diagnostics, alignment, steering and suspension, brake systems, hydraulic systems, fuel and emission systems, ignition and electrical systems, standard transmission, engine overhaul, drive train components, plastics repair, welding, truck-trailer repair, imported vehicles, front end components, HVAC systems
- Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment, attention to detail, physically demanding, handling heavy loads, repetitive tasks
- Transportation/travel information: Own transportation, valid driver’s licence, ability to drive manual transmission vehicles
