Qualifications Required:
- Education: Other trades certificate or diploma or equivalent experience
- Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years; must have knowledge of the establishment’s culinary genres
Job Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate activities of food preparation and portioning staff (supervising over 20 people)
- Train staff in job duties, sanitation, and safety procedures
- Hire food service staff and establish work schedules
- Estimate ingredient/supply needs, prepare food order summaries for chef, and maintain stock, repair, sales, and wastage records
- Ensure food and service meet quality control standards and address customer complaints
- Prepare budget and cost estimates, and prepare/submit reports
- Supervise and check the assembly of trays and delivery of food trolleys
Working Conditions:
- Hot, noisy environment with odours
- Fast-paced, physically demanding setting with tight deadlines and under pressure
- Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
- High attention to detail required
