Qualifications Required:
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
- Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years.
- Credentials: Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.
Job Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and processes.
- Interpret welding process specifications and determine the weldability of materials.
- Operate manual, semi-automatic, or fully automated welding equipment.
- Operate brakes, shears, flame-cutting equipment, and other metal shaping or bending machines.
- Fabricate or repair metal parts using previously set-up welding machines.
- Examine welds to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing, and soldering equipment.
- Cut materials using power tools or by hand; grind and buff seams, joints, and rough surfaces.
- Utilize Computer-aided design (CAD) knowledge as required.
