Qualifications Required:
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- Experience: 2 to less than 3 years
Job Responsibilities:
- Select equipment for residential and small commercial construction
- Measure and mark sheet metal according to templates
- Prepare tenders and quotations
- Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape, or straighten sheet metal
- Operate laser cutters and plasma cutters
- Grind and buff seams, joints, and rough surfaces
- Schedule work and inspect products for quality and conformity
- Cut materials using power tools or by hand
- Assemble, erect, and install hoisting and rigging equipment
- Estimate costs and materials
- Fit and join sheet metal parts
- Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes
