Qualifications Required:
- Education: Other trades certificate or diploma, or equivalent experience
- Experience: 5 years or more
- Credentials: Electrical Mechanic Trade Certification
Job Responsibilities:
- Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements
- Test and observe electrical and mechanical conditions of equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair electric motors, transformers, switchgear, generators, and other electro-mechanical equipment
- Use machining tools to fabricate or recondition parts
- Replace or recondition shafts, bearings, commutators, and other components
- Weld or braze components
- Perform machining to recondition or modify parts
- Perform on-site servicing and repair
- Test and repair or replace faulty wiring or components in electrical switchgear
- Test repaired motors, transformers, switchgear, or other electrical apparatus to ensure proper performance
- Perform preventive maintenance
Working Conditions:
- On-site work only, no remote option
- Noisy environment
- Physically demanding tasks, handling heavy loads, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling
- Manual dexterity required
- Must use own tools and steel-toed safety boots
Personal Suitability:
- Ability to work in maintenance, repair, testing, and troubleshooting environments
- Skilled in mechanical and electrical diagnostics
- Capable of handling physically demanding tasks
Eligibility:
- Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or temporary residents with a valid work permit
- Must have own transportation
- Basic security clearance and valid driver’s licence check required
