Qualifications Required:
- Education: Other trades certificate or diploma
- Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years
Job Responsibilities:
- Determine materials required
- Interpret engineering drawings and instructions
- Lay out reference points and patterns
- Plan efficient metal cutting sequences
- Assemble and fit plates and sections
- Weld or bolt sections together
- Operate heavy-duty metal-working machines
- Rig, hoist, and move materials within the worksite
Working Conditions:
- Environment: Dangerous, noisy
- Setting: Various locations, fabrication, assembly
- Physical demands: Physically demanding, attention to detail
- Equipment: MIG welding, brakes and presses, cutting torches, drills, grinder, shears, CNC machines, saws
- Safety gear: Steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, gloves, ear plugs, welding helmet
- Transportation: Valid driver’s licence required
