Qualifications Required:
- Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma (1 to 2 years)
- Experience: Experience an asset
- Certificates:
- Developmental Services Worker (DSW) Training
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate
- First Aid Certificate
- CPR Certificate
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform administrative and office activities
- Assess clients’ skill strengths and development needs
- Conduct housekeeping and food preparation
- Resolve conflict situations
- Supervise clients in group homes and halfway houses
- Liaise with social service agencies and health care providers
- Assist clients with special needs
- Accompany clients to appointments and social outings
Working Conditions:
- Work environments include group homes, private residences, and social service agencies
- Socio-economic needs or conditions may be present
- Criminal record, child/adult abuse registry, and driver’s licence checks required
- Own vehicle and valid driver’s licence required
- Weight handling up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs)
