Work Setting and Environment
- Rural greenhouse environment
- Conditions: wet/damp, hot, physically demanding
- Tasks involve standing, crouching, kneeling, and handling up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
Responsibilities
- Plant, cultivate, irrigate, and hand-harvest vegetables
- Pick orchard and row crops; transplant seedlings or rooted cuttings
- Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and fungicides
- Clean crops and greenhouse facilities
- Pack produce and assist in pruning and grafting activities
- Pot and re-pot plants, plant bulbs and seeds
- Mix and prepare soils; water and tend to plants and gardens
- Detect signs of disease or insect damage
- Clean and maintain the work area
