Job Details:

  • Location: Etobicoke, ON
  • Salary: $30.00 to $45.00 per hour (To be negotiated)
  • Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time
  • Hours of Work: 35 to 45 hours per week (Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Overtime, On Call, Flexible Hours, Morning shifts from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM)
  • Start Date: As soon as possible

Qualifications Required:

  • Education: Other trades certificate or diploma
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years in plumbing or related field
  • Languages: English

Responsibilities:

  • Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems
  • Instruct and supervise apprentices in plumbing tasks
  • Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors
  • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and fittings
  • Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, or soldering, brazing, and welding equipment
  • Schedule personnel, tools, and equipment for plumbing tasks
  • Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges
  • Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to required shapes and sizes

Experience and Specialization:

  • Credentials required include:
    • Backflow Prevention Certification
    • Plumber Trade Certification
    • Working at Heights training
    • Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) clearance Certificate
    • WHMIS Certificate
  • Completion of apprenticeship training (levels two through five)

Additional Information:

  • Work Environment:
    • Physically demanding, requiring bending, crouching, and kneeling
    • Work in various settings including outdoors, construction sites, and confined spaces
    • Ability to handle heavy loads (up to 45 kg or 100 lbs)
  • Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver’s licence is required; own vehicle is necessary, though a vehicle may be supplied by the employer
  • Personal Suitability: Accurate, client-focused, with efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, teamwork ability, and adaptable to various work conditions
