Requirements:

  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience: 5 years or more in carpentry, particularly in renovation

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare estimates of labor and/or material costs
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements
  • Prepare layouts in compliance with building codes using measuring tools
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, moldings, and hardware
  • Schedule and coordinate work on sites and instruct apprentices
  • Supervise other workers and maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in various settings

Work Conditions:

  • Work must be completed on-site; there is no option to work remotely
  • Environment includes working at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors
  • Must handle physically demanding tasks and work with minimal supervision

Transportation:

  • Own transportation and valid driver’s license required
  • Travel expenses paid by the employer
