Key Responsibilities
As a Carpenter, your primary duties will include:
- Preparing estimates for labor and material costs for various projects.
- Reading blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements.
- Preparing layouts in accordance with building codes using measuring tools.
- Measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
- Building foundations, installing floor beams, laying subflooring, and erecting walls and roof systems.
- Fitting and installing windows, doors, stairs, moldings, and hardware.
- Maintaining, repairing, and renovating residences and wooden structures in various settings, including mills, mines, hospitals, and industrial plants.
Qualifications
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
- Experience: 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in carpentry.
Skills Required
- Proficiency in using hand tools and machinery related to carpentry.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Additional Information
- The work environment may be noisy and dusty, and the role requires physical stamina, including bending, crouching, and kneeling.
