Key Responsibilities
As a Cabinetmaker, your primary duties will include:
- Operating woodworking machines such as power saws, jointers, mortisers, and shapers to cut, shape, and form parts and components.
- Shaping surfaces or edges of wood workpieces using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files.
- Studying plans, specifications, or drawings to understand the articles to be made.
- Trimming joints and fitting parts and subassemblies together to form complete units, reinforcing joints as necessary.
- Sanding wooden surfaces and applying veneer, stain, or polish to finished products; preparing and applying laminated plastics.
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Qualifications
- Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 to 2 years.
- Experience: 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in cabinetry or woodworking.
Skills Required
- Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team and maintain an organized workspace.
